Figure Out What Interests You Most
How to read more often. If you don’t like reading, one of the most important things you can do is find book topics that you truly enjoy. That has been the biggest difference from me reading as a kid, to me reading now as an adult.
As a child in school, I hated reading! And as you know, in school, there’re tons of reading assignments to be done. We had book reports, AR reading, newspaper articles for current events that needed to be studied and written about. This left a very sour taste in my mouth when it came to reading. So once I graduated. The only reading I ever did after that was either on a computer or on my phone, and those were mainly headlines or Facebook posts.
Now as an adult, I’ve found many topics which I truly enjoy. This has been a game-changer for me. I wish someone could’ve given me this very simple tip as a child. Find a topic, or set of topics that you’re most interested in, and read about those. When you are fascinated by something, you simply cannot read enough about it. So the first step is to find something that fascinates you.
Always Have a Book With You
If you want to read more often, then you have to simply read more often. You can do this by implementing a few practical changes in your daily life. The first and most important thing you must do is to always have a book handy. You can accomplish this by always having a physical book in your car, your purse, gym bag, at your desk, on your nightstand. You get the point. However, there are times when you’ll be away from your car, away from your desk, or even away from your purse, somehow. And for those reasons, you’re in luck. Because even though you may not have your purse, or your gym bag, or be at your desk. One thing’s for certain, you will definitely always have your phone on you.
So if you join your local library, they can help you access websites and apps you can use to download free eBooks. They also have a large selection of audiobooks, which is my next suggestion to always having a book handy. However, if you’d like to purchase your own eBooks, Amazon has a huge selection of titles here at Kindle Unlimited. Or, if you prefer audiobooks, Amazon’s Audible platform has the largest selection of books to choose from. If you want to read more often, you should probably have at least one of each of these formats on hand at all times.
Schedule A Permanent Reading Time
Depending on your schedule, morning, midday, or night. Carve out a chunk of time throughout your day for reading. Pick a starting time and duration, and stick to it. Pick a time that easily works for you. A time where you will not be distracted, or have any disruptions. Do this on a daily basis to build better reading habits.

Skip/Ditch One Of Your Current Daily Activities
Lastly, if you want to read more often, you may have to create room in your routine to read. This may mean cutting out TV time, spending less time on the phone, cutting down on your social media time, or eliminating any other activity that can be cut out.
By implementing all of these tips, you’re sure to not only develop a habit of reading but also a love for it as well. The truth is, the more you do it, the more you’ll enjoy doing it. So why wait? Get started today.
